ANTIQUE WEDGWOOD CREAMWARE ETRURIA JOHN PEEL PITCHER JUG This classic antique Wedgwood Etruria Creamware scenic John Peel pitcher or jug dates from ca. 1891-1908. (Etruria was the fourth site for the Josiah Wedgwood pottery business and was opened 1769.). The relief molded body has a fluted base, a Fox Hound form handle and two seperate fox hunting scenes decorating the sides. The base is marked with the round black printed Wedgwood Etruria England mark with the image of John Peel. Condition: very good, has one (1/4 in)rim chip at lip (see image), some overall minor glaze crazing (normal for its age) no cracks or other chips.

Note: The story behind John Peel: John Peel (abt 1776-1854)was an English farmer & fox hunter who was rather famous for his drinking abilities. Dyke Ken John Peel (translation: Do You Know John Peel?) is the title to a traditional British hunt song written in 1829,in honor of John Peel.

ANTIQUE WEDGWOOD MAJOLICA DUTCH SCENE COMPOTE During the nineteenth century, scenes based on the daily life of the Dutch became popular and this antique Wedgwood Majolica low comport or compote is a fine example. The center is decorated with an embossed Dutch water scene and is surrounded by a deep rich brown and ochre scalloped rim. The round stand rests on three modeled Ochre glazed paw form feet below draping Acanthus leaves. The underside is in a mottled glazed with stilt marks around the rim. The cream base with maker's marks including impressed (all caps) WEDGWOOD, the impressed letter 'T'; impressed partially obscured date code of 'B' or possibly 'D' and a pattern number of 'M 1426' (for ca 1873-1888) in red paint dating this piece to either ca 1873 or 1875.

Condition: very good, has one .25 inch chip on underside of rim,some scuffing to glaze in center (see images) no cracks or other chips

ANTIQUE ENGLISH GREEN EDGE MALKIN MAJOLICA LEAF FOOTED TAZA COMPOTE This is a very decorative antique English green glazed Edge Malkin majolica low compote (taza). The rim is decorated with a bead and Greek Key pattern with a raised leaf, fern and flower design on a stippled center ground; it rests on a circular base with bead and flute design. In mint condition, there is some minor glaze crazing, and one glaze pop in center; the underside has 3 stilt marks; no chips or cracks. Base has the impressed Edge, Malkin and Co. mark, dates from 1870-1902

From a Creamware dinner service, the tureen is decorated with handpainted brown Grape and Ivy leaf border design on a pale yellow ground. The underside of the stand is stamped WEDGWOOD with a stamped decorators mark; this tureen dates to ca 1780 - 1810.

Condition: excellent, one small flake to underside of lid rim, no hairlines, no loss to decoration

ANTIQUE MINTON PORCELAIN COFFEE POT This is an outstanding 18th c. style helmet form Minton porcelain pedestal coffee pot made for the Foster Stevens Co.; the pouring spout and high arch handle having gilded relief molded acanthus leaves; the lid with gilded foliate ring handle and molded acanthus leaf medallion; the top rim with gilt bead bands; the body with handpainted floral and laurel leaf garlands above scattered floral bouquets. The base bears Mintons globe and crown mark and Foster Stevens designation, impressed year and decorators marks on footrim. Condition: no loss to handpainted decoration,very minor rubbing to gilt on base, 2 tight hairlines at rim; no chips; dates to ca 1911.

Engine turned decoration below rim and on handle; further embellished with wide gold bands with black detailing on handle. This jug is possibly an Exhibition Piece (Great Exhibition of 1851) owing to its embellishment with gold bands, which were also used on Pratt's potlids. Incised mark of FR Pratt & Co., Fenton,Staffs, and the number 9 (usually indicates size or style).
