Fine quality 19th century (Meiji period) earthenware Japanese Satsuma teapot; soft fine crackle cream colored glaze; decorated on side and continuing across lid with handpainted birds flying amoung bamboo in gold, black and light green; handle and spout with additional scroll designs in gold and red, gold rim around top of teapot, edge of top, base and end of spout. Gold on black mark on bottom possibly that of Senzan. Condition: wear to gold trim, some overall darkening of crackle glaze, no chips or cracks found, no rubbing of enamels
