A nice masculine Victorian era/19th c. inlaid black paper mache trinket box; top with piano hinge and wood inlaid cartouche. Small boxes like this were usually used to hold ladies hair pins or men's shirt studs; this one was found with shirt studs inside.
Condition: some minor overall crazing to lacquer, very minor abrasions to corners; under magnification & strong light there is a man's name (Bud Rea) and an undecipherable word lightly scratched on top inside cartouche |
