This is an outstanding 18th c. style helmet form Minton porcelain pedestal coffee pot made for the Foster Stevens Co.; the pouring spout and high arch handle having gilded relief molded acanthus leaves; the lid with gilded foliate ring handle and molded acanthus leaf medallion; the top rim with gilt bead bands; the body with handpainted floral and laurel leaf garlands above scattered floral bouquets. The base bears Mintons globe and crown mark and Foster Stevens designation, impressed year and decorators marks on footrim. Condition: no loss to handpainted decoration,very minor rubbing to gilt on base, 2 tight hairlines at rim; no chips; dates to ca 1911. |
