This is an outstanding 18th c. style helmet form Minton porcelain pedestal coffee pot made for the Foster Stevens Co.; the pouring spout and high arch handle having gilded relief molded acanthus leaves; the lid with gilded foliate ring handle and molded acanthus leaf medallion; the top rim with gilt bead bands; the body with hand-painted floral and laurel leaf garlands above scattered floral bouquets. The base bears Mintons globe and crown mark and Foster Stevens designation, impressed year and decorators marks on foot-rim. Condition: no loss to hand-painted decoration,very minor rubbing to gilt on base, 2 tight hairlines at rim; no chips; dates to ca 1911. |
