This is a fine anitque Victorian English silverplated egg coddler or boiler made by Roberts & Belk ca. 1880-90's (Samuel Roberts & Charles Belk). The lid is decorated with an acorn finial above plain reeding or ribs intersected by bright cut foliate ribs. The base is suspended by four wire form supports, each with spoon hook and ending in ball form feet over a Greek Cross base. The base bears the mark of Roberts & Belk. Condition: in very good condition with no loss to plate, 2 very small dents to bottom of boiler; missing its interior holder, spoons and spirit lamp. |
