This lovely STERLING SILVER BROOCH PIN is an EARLY EXAMPLE OF the work of TAXCO ARTIST, YSIDRO GARCIA PINA (workshop name MARICELA 1943-86) dating from ca 1950. Skillfully crafted, and beautifully designed, this pin is clearly signed with full hallmarks: (workshop name) Maricela Tasco, Sterling and 925,delineated Eagle mark and Heche en Mexico.
Morrill and Berk's book, MEXICAN SILVER devotes a chapter to the works of this skilled artist. He is also documented in Hougart’s MEXICAN TRADE AND HALLMARKS. Signed Taxco jewelry pieces are treasured both for their original designs as well as the outstanding craftsmanship and have steadily increased in value over the years.
